What is ROTA?

甚麼是ROTA?

ROTA (Retinal nerve fiber layer Optical Texture Analysis) is a technique used in ophthalmology to assess the health of the retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL), which is a layer of nerve fibers that carries visual signals from the eye to the brain. ROTA involves analyzing the texture patterns of the RNFL using optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging.

What is the difference between ROTA and the traditional technique?

The traditional optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive imaging technique that uses light waves to create high-resolution, cross-sectional images of the retina. ROTA uses advanced computer algorithms to analyze the texture patterns in these images, which can reveal subtle changes in the RNFL that may be indicative of various eye diseases, such as glaucoma, optic neuritis, and multiple sclerosis.

Why is ROTA significant?

ROTA provides clinicians with quantitative and objective measures of RNFL texture, which can help them to detect early signs of disease and monitor disease progression over time. It is an effective tool for improving the accuracy and reliability of diagnosis and treatment monitoring in ophthalmology.
